A de-constructed fettuccine marinara

I know today is 7.7.07 and I know this post is about a fettuccine pasta but it's time we take a stand and change certain things we do in our lives. We need to change the way we use energy for example - try not to waste and change all your bulbs into energy saving ones. Not only do you save money, you also save the planet in a small but no less effective way. :)

And how is this recipe related to 7.7.07? Well, nothing really. Maybe it's something you can cook while watching LiveEarth on TV.

This is my deconstructed fettuccine marinara. It's simple and it's all assembly. You just need to cook your fettuccine until al-dente and you're ready to go. And eat. All within the span of 8 minutes. The reason why i called it a deconstructed fettuccine is because the garlic, olive oil, basil and tomatoes are the basic ingredients of a marinara sauce and I am using them individually in this recipe.

So here's the recipe:
1 bundle of fettuccine (diameter of about 1 inch)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoons of butter
a handful of fresh basil, torn into pieces
kosher salt, to taste
cracked pepper, to taste
1 tomato, cut into chunks
Parmesan for sprinkling

Optional:
1/4 cup of green peas, thawed and warmed

Method:
1. Cook the fettuccine until al dente, approx. 15 minutes in salted water. Drained the water out completely.
2. In the same hot pan with your pasta in it, add your garlic, olive oil, butter, salt and pepper. Stir until well combined. Add the rest of the ingredients in and combine well.
3. Serve with a sprinkling of Parmesan, salt and pepper.

Eat!

sasi: well, it's suppose to be de-constructed so you see every ingredient as it is. It doesn't taste like a salad though :P
